So my friend picked up a macbook from these kids that were throwing one away.(the screen does not work, needs an external monitor.) Anyway I am trying to re-install tiger and it keeps prompting for a password which I DO NOT have. this is killing me, how do i get by this??

With the Install disk, click through windows far enough until you get the regular set of choices on the menu bar. One of those menus is Utilities and one of the choices on that menu is Reset Password....

When all else fails, try everything!

i dont understand. click through what windows. i cant find where this menu is with 'utilities' please guide me thru in dummy terms.

Startup from the Install disk. (hold "c" while restarting) Follow the procedure, to install, until you get the set of choices on the menu bar.(Top of Window) One of those menus is Utilities. Click on Utilities and one of the choices from that menu is Reset Password.
