Dear friends,

I am moving from a Mac Book running Tiger (my first mac) to a new MBP running Leopard. I do have a spare HD with enough capacity to use. I never did any replacement in a mac so here some questions:

- How should I proceed? any tips?
- Will I be able to run my applications or I will need to re-install them?
- What about my personal settings?

Thanks For your help, I am a newcomer...

Juan

buy a male-male firewire cable. the first time you start the MBP it will ask if you have another Mac that you want to transfer data from. Say yes and follow the instructions. Works perfectly.

Hi, thanks for the tips. However, the MBP was already "in use" by a co-worker. Can I still transfer the info or I need to re-install leopard?

you might want to reinstall Leopard anyway, just to get a fresh start, but if you don't want to do that, you can use the Migration Assistant application, which is in Applications>Utilities. It does the same thing.
