OS 10.4 - Software Update Quitting Unexpectedly

Anyone know what may be causing my Software update to keep crashing? Just want to get things moving along here and it gets to about 75% each time and dies. Ideas? I've also been having quitting problems with Safari every now and again.

Pick up Onyx and run through its series of utilities, especially the cache cleaners. If that doesn't help, we can try other things.
