When I first got a macbook pro, I loved the widget feature. As I started putting more widgets and web clips onto the dashboard, I realized that the when I clicked on the dashboard, the widgets would take long to load. How do I speed the widgets up? Does anybody else have this problem?

widgets are interesting little things. think of each widget as a separate program, and your dashboard almost as a separate operating system.

each time you open the dashboard, you start not only the dashboard application itself but all the little widgets all have to load at the same time.

in addition, when you close the dashboard you do not quit it. therefore if you notice slow performance any other time, the dashboard may be to blame.

i have the same problem, so i just completely disabled the dashboard and now my entire computer runs so much smoother.
