Trust an install disk came with the OS whatever it is? Sounds like you will have to format the drive and do a clean install.

Your tried to drag your User folder to the Dock? The one in the users folder with your name on it?

If youre on the mac right now and its working, then your home folder may be there hidden somewhere or else might be gone, but can be fixed by just creating a new account thats an administrator, logoff, then log back into that account and delete the old one that you are using right now. If youve only had it 3 days Im sure there cant be that much info youd lose. All your applications (programs) are still there and any shortcuts you deleted off the dock and such will return to the new account. Go to your "settings" icon that looks like gears, go to accounts, unlock the lock, then click the + sign and make a new administrator account of your name or something maybe slightly different than the old one was. You can even just leave the old account and use the new one to make sure there is nothing youre missing from the old one before finally deleting it later on
