MacBook - Unmounted Drive Help!

Mac Specs: macbook 2GHz intel core duo 2 GB ram Mac os x 10.5 Leopard

I restarted my computer and got the flashing question mark folder.
i restarted again this time into the leopard instal disk to verify the disk in disk utility
i go into disk utility and nothing shows up just my install dvd and dvd drive.
this has happened befor but a long time ago and i dont remember how to fix it
how can i mount the drive again?
help pleeasse

you can run disk utility from the leopard install, try that first

also check the physical connections

You may have loss your system drive. Since this has happened before, htat may have been your initail warning. Hopefully you have a complete back up of your data and maybe time to start looking dfor a new drive.

Someone else may come along with some suggestions on what to do next.

If you have your stuff backed up, like rman says, your best bet is a new HDD, I just picked a brand new 250 GB laptop HDD for £80 GBP, and then somewhere in this forum is a method for swapping out your hard drive, works a treat

If not, it may be possible to recover the data professionally, but it may cost you. If the mac is still within warranty or you have procare you might be able to sort it on that.
