upgrade to leopard from Tiger. At the end of the install about one min to go the install failed and the computer would not boot. I managed to get it booted and it looked like all was well Leopard was installed. Tried to set the Macintosh hd as the startup disk but it is not listed in the control panel in the system preference. Is it not suppose to be there and how do I get it to show up there
QUOTE Thanks

Lots of problems Peter with upgrading Leopard have been reported.

What happens if you hold down the option key during startup? Assume by control panel you mean the Startup Disk in System preferences?

Maybe a format of the HDD and a clean install is your option.

sorry I did the upgrade it fail twice pretty much at the start. Then I did the Archive and install thats the one that fail right at the end. I have no problem now booting It does it without having to hold down the option button. However the only problem I have is that the Macintosh HD icon is not in the startup disk panel in system preference

OK you are getting the machine up and running. Does the HD appear in Disk Utility? If so run Verify Disk and then Repair Permissions - be patient the latter is very slow.

If no success have you got Disk Warrior? If so boot from the disc by holding down 'C' when you reboot with the disc in the drive. It is also very slow. Do not install DiskWarrior on the HD as a fix is coming from Alsoft.

If still no luck, have a look at the Apple Discussion and you may be able to work a cure using Terminal.

Good luck and let us know how you go Peter.
