I have a 100 gb hardrive on my macbook- so that leaves 92.84gb when formatted.

Recently I have been trying to re-organize my files and I cannot account for about 20 gigs of space. I have 63.53 in use, and I'm looking in the HD through applications and users and library and system and everything that shows but cannot account for 20 gigs.

So i was wondering if there is some hidden files or something that i don't know about, or some suggestions to help find this missing space.

Thanks

yes there are

Spotlight (the macs search engine) keeps a database of your files

The system has a load of cache files and system logs that you cannot see

And the OS used virtual memory

You might be able to clean up some stuff using MainMenu
