No Macintosh HD icon on desktop

I suddenly found that I don't have an HD icon on my G4 Ti book. I've reset pram and nvram and nothing....anyone know what I can do?

Does you system boot up or do you get the flashing question mark?

Delete your desktop folder from the Finder. This will reset it.

go to finder preferences in general tab check the hard disk mark
