Will I be able to transfer all my iTunes Music and Albumn Art, Playlists etc and my iPhoto and documents between my MB and my MBP using an external hardrive used with Time Machine?

Also will I be able to transfer applications such as pages?

Well you can't just "transfer" stuff like that. I don't think that's possible. You can however restore your macbook to be exactly like your powerbook by reinstalling OS X using the Time Machine disk.

Transferring files should be possible as long as you know the location. But transferring specific apps would be little tricky... I mean I have never tried.

You can use the migration assistant in the utilities folder. You just need a 6pin to 6pin firewire cable. I think it will transfer almost everything.
