problems mounting images of .dmg files

i have couple of downloads that need to be installed, but when i run them it says its no recongnizeble, maybe the files are broken, but i doubt of it,
is there an alternative program apart the one of mac i could use to mount images?
help me only one kanoli, ur my only hope!

If they are .dmg's, would def try deleting and downloading again
If you havn't installed Stuffit Expander - you should do this also for a variety of files that you may download from the net.
