OS 10.4 - Menu items suddenly not appearing

Hello everyone,

recently all of the items on the right side of my menu bar are not appearing..

these items include:

date and time, fast user switching.

Also, everytime that i go into system prefferences and try and set up the date and time and select "show the date and time" i can select the digital clock, but it does nothing.. and, as soon as i exit the clock section of date and time prefferences, and go back to clock.. show date and time is not even selected..

And as for the fast user switching case, the option is selected in my accounts prefferences.

can someone please help me out?
