I have an imac G3 and was wanting to reinstall osx. My question: I have the OSX install disks from an old macbook, (Macbook is no longer in use), would I be able to install OSX using those disks or do I need to suck it up and pay the $69 bucks for OSX at my university? Thanks!

No, not at all because your Macbook is an Intel machine and your iMac G3 is a Power PC machine. The DVD that comes with the Macbook besides being tied to that model Mac, is only for Intel Macs. I am pretty sure all the Full Install Tigers you would purchase are for Power PC CPU's. Be sure though you are getting a copy of Tiger that is for PPC CPU's.
Do you know if the Mac g3 has a DVD drive as full install Tiger is on DVD from the factory. Last edited by dtravis7; 07-20-2007 at 04:26 PM. |
