my dearest g4 is giving the trouble for the first time since I bought it in 2000.
the cursor turned into a loadup wheel and stay frozen that way. I can turn my computer on and off, i can move the cursor wheel around, i can insert and eject any dish, and i can see all my files on the desktop, but i cannot click on any of those files nor open any of the programs. Please help. I am not really savvy when it comes to computer so please be simple

You seems to have a problem with RAM. Are there any apps. that you no longer need? If so, delete them from the App. folder. Open the activity monitor and check the memory allocation. You might be able to get some clues there.

thank you for your advise. However, as i stated in my message, I cannot select any of the files nor programs, because the cursor has turned into a loadup wheeler that keeps turning around and around. i tried to turn of the computer, unplugged the computer, etc...

Sorry, we need more info here, we haven't enough to help you.

1- What is your G4 a Power Mac? An iMac? A PowerBook? An iBook? An eMac? How many MHz?

2- Which version of the operating system is it running on? 10.2.8? 10.3.9?

3- How much RAM?

4- What did you do before this started happening? Did you install any software, change any settings? Did you add a peripheral?

5- What have you done so far in terms of troubleshooting to get rid of the problem?
QUOTE Thanks
