Well i just purchased imac 24" and was browsing around to see whats new in mac world a quick question that keeps on coming to my mind is do i have to keep on buying the mac new OS lets say i have 10.4 right now if leapord comes anytime soon would i have buy that or iMac will automatically update it for free ... like i said im just new to this world of mac and do not have any information about it

You have to buy it (£89). It is optional though and you'll be able to get along with 10.4 for years to come.

I am still confused because im mostly a windows user so do not much know about apple first timer
