    formatting an external hard drive
I was going to buy this external hard drive

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digi...9139274&sr=1-1

but it comes in the fat-32 format..i understand that this format can not transfer files more than 4gb....

so is there a way to change the format to Mac OS extended or another format that can transfer larger file sizes and can i use mac os extended format on windows.

    13'' Macbook w/ 2Ghz Core Duo, 2GB DDR2, 250GB HD, 10.5.4. iPod Touch.
There certainly is. Once you have your HD and plug it in via USB, you can open up Disk Utility (located under Applications/Utilities). From there, you can select your HD and go to the Erase tab and then format to your liking!

I think you are outta luck. The only formats that work on PC's are NTFS and FAT32. Macs can't write to NTFS, and PC's can't read/write HFS+ without 3rd party software
