OS 10.4 - White Screen When Starting Up Helpp!

it mainly happens when i restart my computer, its a g5, it loads just a white screen and wont do anything, i have to hold the power button to shut it off, and wait a minitue or 2 and then start it then it will load fine?? anyone have any idea?
