Welcome to Mac-Forums, chefnelone. I use a French keyboard layout so I could tell you where the apostrophe is on my keyboard but it won't help you much!

One way of seeing where your characters are is through the Keyboard Viewer. Just activate it in the System Preferences but make sure your language is set to English.

In System Preferences, go to International: under the Language tab that is where you set your keyboard language then under the Input Menu you simply click on the Keyboard Viewer.

The ' key is just left of the Return key
