OS 10.4 - Disc First Aid

When verifying Disc in disc utilities Disc First Aid on Mac OSX 10.4.9 version the following message appears,

Checking Extended Attributes file.
Incorrect number of Extended Attributes
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
be repaired.",1)
Macintosh HD
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked Volume needs repair.

could anyone please help or inform me what this means and what to do regarding, Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked Volume needs repair.

Did you notice any noises coming from your hard drive? If so, it's probably your hard drive that's about to fail. If not then that means it's a problem that could be fixed via software.

In which case, if I were you, I would run DiskWarrior: it could get you out of this one.

Or there's this, Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck.
