    Trash and External drives
At the moment when I need to make room on my external HD or a USB drive I have to move the items I want to delete to the trash and then empty the entire trash to get the space I need.

Is there a way to permanently delete items directly from the drive to eliminate the need to empty the trash?

Alternatively, is there a way to permanently delete selected items from the trash without having to empty its entire contents?

be careful with that software as it can be set up to permanently delete items when you drag and drop into the can.
