search hidden files

Is there a way to search all the files that finder normally keeps hidden?

Mac Specs: G4 1Ghz OS X 10.4.7
Yup. In the terminal type ls LS (no caps) for list and /tmp (example) or whatever directory path you may wanna see
witeshark is offline

i mean is there a way to try to find the word like "mac" in all the names in all the hidden folders without just having to go threw each one in the terminal

Yeah - bring up the Finder and on the top menu bar pick file and in the pull down find
witeshark is offline
