MacBook Pro - Mouse Pointer is crazy

I'm having problems only recently with my mouse pointer. Every so often it would go to the top of the finder bar by it self and i'm unable to move it at all. Then sometimes it will quickly go down to the dock, and the same thing will happen...why is this? i've never had trackpad issues before, or with the external mouse i use.

Does it happen with only the mouse, or when you are using the tarckpad too?
