This is one of the things that I miss the most from Windows.

Being able to view all sorts of file metadata right from the file manager.

Got a folder full of pictures?
You can quickly see the photo dimensions, resolution, data taken, etc. etc.

Folder full of music?
Artist, song title, album, song length, bit rate, etc. etc.

Same goes for many other types of files.

Convenient and fast.
Don't need to open Get Info/Properties or Inspector.
Don't need to open the file in its associated program.

Just switch to List/Details view and everything's there.

I really hope that with Leopard, we will see these capabilities added to the Finder.

...though I doubt it, considering how Apple seems to have been neglecting the Finder in recent years. =\

Command-i will open multiple info windows.
If you want an inspector, it's command-option-i.

You do have a 7 options available in finder > View Options for List view.
Hope that helps a bit.

~ 15" MacBook Pro. OSX 10.7 ~ 3G iPad 2 ~
Measure twice, cut once..

I have this same problem: How can I display MP3 info in Finder in List mode?

7 options is a travesty. For a platform that prides itself on being media-friendly, this seems something obvious to have integrated into the shell.

I also need to see artist and album names (or at least have the option to add that column in Finder) in Finder's list mode. It is really clunky and inefficient to manage 20000+ songs by clicking on each one individually to find out its info.

I do manage my music through iTunes most of the time, but sometimes I have a need to use Finder directly.
