my own torrent files?

is there a way to make a torrent file for one of my files? because i have a fairly large file (over 1 gig) that needs to be transmitted to several different people all over the US. and from work, (has really fast internet speed) i'm only able to use bit torrent. so i was wondering how would i go about making a torrent file, and uploading it blah blah blah. well i hope you get the picture.. haha.
