    file/folder arrange option
if i have a folder that contains multiple files and folders, is it possible to sort alphabetically but with the folders sorted at the top. i know windows does this by default when sorting by name, but what is the option to have a mac do this?

Unfortunately there is no straightforward way to do this. This is because you're dealing with the Finder, which is long overdue to be replaced and made into a better file browser.

I also don't know whether Apple thinks it a good idea to keep folders on top. Apple has their way of doing what they like or think is best, often eliminating choice for the sake of simplicity.

Yea, yogi is right. However you can checkout some of the alternatives which could do that.
