just bought my macbook today and tried to download firefox. it works well, but i would like to clear up my desktop, any way to get rid of the icon that looks like a harddrive. i searched and followed some instructions on a few threads but they didnt work. and is there a way to hid the harddrives on my desktop (mac and the partitioned xp harddrives) thanx guys. sorry im a nub

G'day ericlikewhoa & welcome to Mac-Forums.

Have a look in Finder Preferences and under the General section. Uncheck Hard Discs in "Show these items on the desktop"

Let me know if this is what you wanted.
