Greetings,

I am trying to install MAC OSX onto a IMAC G4. When I start the computer with the OS cd in while holding down the "c" key, it starts from cd,but only displays a white screen with broken apple images across the top pf the screen.

Has anyone heard of this before? ANy suggestions?

Thanks!

Are you using a valid disc? By that I mean one that came with the iMac or one you purchased.

Well, I am borrowing an OS disk from a friend, because the machine i got is used, and is password protected. I do not know the password, so I wanted to reformat.

Thanks.

Yes, I have read all the articles. I cannot find anywhere on the internet a description of my problem. It is a white screen with a series of faint apple logos across the top. That is not found on the help pages of the apple website.

Thanks.
