When browsing through the Applications folder...

...I am often too lazy to scroll up and down using my mouse, so I use the up and down arrows on my keyboard.

Is it possible to open an application using a key on the keyboard rather than having to click it using the mouse? When I press Enter on the application I want to open, it just thinks I want to edit the name of the application and makes itself ready to be edited...

Sounds like you should try out Quicksilver. Its a hot key application launcher. hit your hot key, then type 2 or 3 letters from the apps name, and hit enter.

I agree... if you are not already using it you should check it out. I rarely even go into my apps folder.. If I need something I just reveal Quicksilver.

Here is a post with a bit of info on it.

Thanks fellas!

You can also hit command + down arrow just as you would if you were opening a folder. Since you are already using the arrow to scroll through the apps, this would require the least amount of effort, and that sounds like what you are going for http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/mac...ons/icon10.gif

Yea, once you get used to Quicksilver, you'l never know why you went so long without it. I use it to open iTunes and Play/Pause it whenever I need it. I also use it to open up applications all the time if they aren't on my dock!
