I just discovered a neat trick and thought I would pass it on. If you regularly put your Mac to sleep vs. shutting it down, try this:

Hold down Option + CMD and then, while pressing and holding them, press and hold the media Eject key. Don't press it and let go - press it and hold it briefly until you see the mouse pointer disappear.

Boom! Your Mac instantly goes to sleep! Neat!

My Macs: iMac 27" 3.4 GHz, Mac Pro 3.2 GHz, PowerMac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz, G4 Cube with 1.2 GHz Upgrade
My iStuff: 64GB iPhone 5, 64GB iPad4, 30GB iPod Video, 16GB iPod Touch
My OS': Mac OS X Lion, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS 9.2.2, openSUSE 10.3
I was on the Mac-Forums honor roll for September 2007

cool...my roommate and I both have MacBook Pro's and I always thought I saw him putting his to sleep quickly using a keyboard shortcut, but I never really cared enough to ask about it, but thanks...its nice to now a cool trick like that...

Life is a game, whoever has the most money at the end wins.
