When I save a file in any program, I only get a short list of general locations to save to (documents, desktop, etc.) but I want to be able to save it in a specific folder. How can I do this? So far I've been saving to the desktop then moving it after it's saved, which is very annoying.

I tried clicking options when saving and saw a section for file location, but I can't access it, like pretty much all the other sections under options.

Thanks

There's a little blue arrow next to the box where you enter the file's name.

Click it, and you'll get a full save window.

Use Automator. Create a Finder plugin that takes the selected Finder item and moves it to the Folder you specify. This is particularly handy if you move stuff to the same folder all the time.

It might sound complicated if you haven't used Automator before, but it really isn't.

Thanks yogi!! I didn't think to try that since it was next to the file name and not the "where" field. I knew it had to be something easy. It's a Mac for Pete's sake!!

'Course it is :-). But I admit this isn't really straightforward. An arrow is not the best way to this. A button saying "More places" or "other places" would be more apt.
