OS 10.4 - I accidentally deleted my desktop folder.

So I did. And out of nowhere I have a new desktop icon and a clean slate. But since then, my computer has been really slow. So would it be a good idea to rebuild my desktop, and if so, how?

Restart Finder or log out and back in again.
