ok i was able to set a password but HOW do i make it so that it prompts me for a password everytime the computer wakes or everytime i turn th computer on??

i hav some friends/family over and dont want any nosey rosies to be loggin in to my account

Yeah, go to System Prefrences>Security>Select "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver" box. That should get the job done...
