Okay so I feel like I must be the first person to have this ever happen. I need help asap and am stressing, especially since I have to board a plane across the country tomorrow at 8am.
I'm giving my sister my ibook g4. I made a new account for her and THOUGHT I made it an admin account, but it turns out I didn't. Yet somehow (this is the part that makes no sense), on her account, I deleted my admin account. So as it's standing, there is one account on the computer and that is a Standard account. So I (as of tomorrow, she) can't make any changes to the computer at all because it asks for the Admin user/password combo and there isn't an administrator account. The bonus is that my start up disks are in New York (there's no way to use the startup disks from a macbook on an ibook, right?) IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS?! please. |

No you need the iBook's original disks to do that. If she doesn't have the original disks, she needs to buy a full install of Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) as an emergency disk so she can reinstall everything.

This is EXACTLY my problem as well! I feel like a *******! Can I infer from this that I need to re-install OS 10.4 for the startup CD? THANK YOU!! |

Maybe try this.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread....95737&tstart=0 When I upgraded to Leopard, I lost my Admin account and couldn't make any changes. I went and did this simple Single-User ... thing ... and now I'm all good. Got my admin back and am having no issues.
