every once in a while, i would use my powerbook g4 at my room and access and enjoy the media files from my iMac on the other room. my question is, is there a way for me to shutdown my iMac across the room using my powerbook g4? if so, could you show me the way.

thank you.

Tell the iMac in System Preferences > Sharing to allow remote desktop. Then configure remote desktop access privileges to allow VNC viewers have access with password. Give it a password.

Then download a VNC client like COTVNC on the PB and remote control the iMac by IP address.

EDIT: you could also use SSH but we're not gonna go there just yet.
