I just started using mac os X for the first time in my life. So sorry if my questions sounds stuped.

I have MAC os X 10.4.8 isntalled on my G4. Nothing else. After I try to install new programs from a CD, I get a message that I need to chose new apllication for .mpkg file to open it. The same with .pkg files. As I understood it must be a disk mount utility on my computer? But as I can see my utility folder is empty. I tried to use stuffix expander, but it didnt help either.

Any ideas how should I install these types of files? Thanks in advance.

Try using that program to install the Utilities off of the OS CD. Then you should be able to install packages

Don't forget to use the new User Reputation System
