So I want to burn a disc, so i slam in a blank cd-r and create a burn folder. This is the first time i have ever created a disc on a mac, anyway. So when i click burn it says I need to insert a blank disc, even though I have already but one in. I have tried several discs and multiple brands.\

Ideas?

Check if the CDs are really empty. You should be able to burn in to following formats.
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R

Does the system recognise the blank disk and ask you what you want to do with it? It sounds like the system is just not recognising that a disk in the drive. It should prompt you for 'finder', 'disk utility' or something else.

Yes, it prompts me on what I want to do...

So it is recognising the disc.

set up the burn folder, click burn in the burn folder - and then put in the blank disc when it asks.

Well, maybe there's sth wrong with your burn tool like the compatibility is not as good as we expect.
Why not try another?

I heard my friends talking about iPod Video Converter for Mac, you can find it at www.mp4converter.net, and many other websites also lists its products.

One problem is that it can just convert AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, VOB, DivX, XviD, AAC, AV3, MP3, to the formats supported by iPod including MP4, M4A, MP3, etc.

New member here, glad to meet you guys. Hope it will be helpful.

compatability shouldn't be a problem with the burn folder - my guess is it would even burn .dll files if you had them. the tool will just take what it finds there and create a copy on the disc that's inserted (as long as there's enough room and the disc hasn't been closed).
playing files is where you'll encounter compatability issues.

good lateral thinking though, Monica!
