I have an eMac PowerPC G4 and the CD Rom tray will not stay closed unless the machine is off. It will shut by pushing on it and pushing the eject button on the keyboard, but it alwasy pops back open again. Any tips would be helpful because it is a locally used machine that can't be used unless it is fixed.

boot the emac into target disk mode holding cmd+t. you should get a firewire symbol. if the door stays closed it is most likely os related. if it opens again it is most likely hardware related which would require a replacement drive.
