I am a new with macs and i want to reformat my mac, i have the os 10.3 but i cant find the serial number on the case. Do i need a serial or not.

they dont have serial numbers like windows does. at least mine dont

MacBook Pro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo OS X 10.4.8
iMac Snow DV 500 MhzOS X 10.3.9
Power Mac G4 Cube 450 MHz OS X 10.3.9

There is no serial number on the case and you won't need it to install, but you will be asked to register once the install is complete.
