OS 10.0 - Newb Needing Help!

Hello im new to macs and need help with a mac that my uncle is sinding me. I've resently heard something about macs being able to run windows soon (note: i haven't read anything on this site about it yet) and was wondering if it will be downloadable or do u have to buy it?

I was also wondering if i had a old os would their be a slightly newer but not like the newist os avalible for downloading (for free)? I like macs but since they dont have windows os i haven't thought about getting one.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed already (there are so many threads and posts!).

Please use the search function.

You can run Windows in 2 ways:

a) Install Boot Camp
b) Install Parallels

Difference:

a) Runs Windows natively as a seperate OS. You choose which OS to use while booting.
b) Runs windows inside OSX. Virtualization.

You have to have a working Windows Full version CD-Rom non-pirated and freshly bought for both to work. You can NOT use an old Windows CD. Activation purposes.

I looked at the like and saw that you have to buy it. Is there a version of mac os that is downloadable (non-pirated)?

Mac OSX is not free, neither is Windows. You have to purchase OSX.
