setting the default video player

hi, i want to associate all video with VLC but they all seem to be associated with quicktime, ive tried choosing to open with vlc and selecting 'always open with this' but that only sets it for each individual file, is there a way to set vlc as my default player for all video? sorry if its an easy one, im new

well you can go to get info on your media file, then select open with. and there should be a function open all file types with this application..

That's what he did.
Unfortunately, you must do it with every type of video... it's only a minor pain, compared to the alternative: applications taking over EVERY file on your system (cough, Winamp, cough).
No I would NOT like to use Winamp to open my Word documents....
