sharing a printer

i have a slot loading imac and a new powerbook, both with airport...the imac is running 10.1.5 the pb is running panther - is there a way to plug in a printer to the USB port of the imac and be able to print on that printer using the pb? if there is, please explain in detail...just saying turn on apple talk isnt enough for me...i need instructions
