Since I can't install the tiger DVD I have got hold of tiger in the form of disk images. These disk images are saved on my desktop and I when I open the boot image file and click on the installer it says to complete this you must restart, when I restart nothing happens, it just boots back into panther. Is there anything I am doing wrong or is there something else that I need help with?
Thanks Dan Back with the mac! |

You need bootable media in order install the OS. If you system has a CD rom drive you will need to swap the tiger DVD for tiger CDs. Or you can use a system that has a DVD rom drive and load your system using target mode.

Assuming you have a copy of Tiger on DVD then the best option is to send it into Apple for an exchange to cd's (as rman said), but if you cant be bothered to do this, and i think you have to pay, then burn the disk images you have to cds so they are bootable. When it restarts its looking to boot from the installer in the cd drive, because it cant find that it boots back into Panther.
However if your drive is cd-rom only then you could be in trouble. |
