OS 10.4 - Reading os9 files from CD into osX

We have just moved to OSX but we have a large amount of old projects on CD. These are saved as disc doubler files

When we expand them on the OSX machines our new macs don't recogise the files - is there any automated way of adding extentions example .qxd
