Surely you don't mean to use a racing wheel when you your iOS device, did you mean your Mac running OS X? If so, what version of OS X do you have and have you checked the vendor site to see what drivers are available?

No its a mac running OS X, version 10.9.3. I have another mac running both OS X and windows 8 but can't use that one for the racing wheel and don't want to put windows on this new mac as i don't really like it. If I can't just play racing games on the mac i will have to resort to getting a xbox but then i am limited to a couple games! I am sure there would be a patch or driver for it but haven't found it as yet. The vendor site only has drivers for windows.

If the vendor doesn't provide drivers for OS X, then it's going to be harder to get full support. There are usually people working on adding support for devices that aren't already supported in OS X, but this support is usually limited and/or old and don't support the current versions of the devices..
