Same here. Been so all day on both iMacs. Must be an Apple Server problem, I guess?

Read an article that says Apple let a cert expire, so the server which checks for updates is now "untrusted" even though it's safe. You can download software still, it apparently is in the update checking process that the lapsed cert is checked.

Hm...Ian, could you test something out for me as well. Go into system preferences, then Dictation and Speech. At the System Voice, click on Customize to add a voice (e.g. American female/Samantha). See if it works. Or does it come up with a 'try again later' message like mine.

Aww man...I fiddled around with settings then eventually reinstalled Mac OSX again (3 hours)...

That's life for me I guess.

But anyway, could somebody check the voice/dictation issue. I want to know if it's just me...

Problem solved about an hour ago. All Apple Store functions now restored as well as your Dictation/Speech thing—at least on my 2 iMacs.
