i have a mid 2009 13" macbook pro which i suspect is going to need a new battery in the near future. obviously, buying one from apple is the ultimate. however, has anyone bought one from an after market supplier? outer world computing does not carry a replacement for this machine.

Try the Powerbook Medic web site. They have a wider line of batteries for older MacBook Pro machines.

Also check iFixit.com. I bought a battery for my 2008 MBP there and it was perfect. They also provide incredible guides for DIY Mac repair.

Be sure to check the repair guide to ensure you have the right tools to remove the battery. My MBP needed a special tri-tip screwdriver to remove the battery.
