My external HD (USB) was removed without being ejected, now in the disc utility it won't allow itself to be verified or repaired.
"The underlying task reported failure on exit" It says the volume needs repair, however when I try to repair it, the same dialog box comes up saying the same thing. Help! |

Power down. Remove the USB drive. Power up. Power down. Plug in the USB drive. Power up. Try Disk Uyility again. You also might try removing the HD from its enclosure and installing it internally to try to repair it.
Otherwise get DiskWarrior. I had some success with that product. |
