Macbook pro OS X lion problems

When I logged in, I get a flashing grey background, I cant access the dock,
and everything takes a long time to start up.

MacBook Pro
13 inch late 2011

Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Software: Mac OS X lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Use Recovery and check out the state of your hard drive.

OS X: About OS X Recovery

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
