I was just being offered a deal on the software, only $34. Besides the money, is it really worth buying this software? Further on this question...When i delete files on my computer, does simply emptying the trash not completely remove the data on the computer? If so, why would people need to use this software?

No. Emptying the trash does not actually delete the files. Emptying the trash tells the computer that the location where the trashed files resided is available for use (ok to overwrite with new data).

Not worth the money. Download and use Onyx which is freeware and does a better job.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

CleanMyMac does a lot of the same stuff OnyX does, perhaps with a friendlier (or at least shinier) interface and no Gatekeeper restrictions. Whether that's worth $34 to you or not is your call.

They help with making the developer richer off your $$$. Avoid all and please read the blog which was recently posted regarding MacKeeper.
