And June update to version OS X.6.8using the Combo Updater. Includes several Security updates.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I would like to set up a single password account with someone who would then create individual passwords for all accounts that previously had individual passwords...

There's a very fine application called 1Password which can do what you're asking. However, it's not free.
